Five Nights of Charcoal - The 3rd Night

Tonight is the third night that I will be showcasing my old but still awesome charcoal pieces, at least 3 or 4 a night, until Halloween night.

Critiques, comments, suggestions, thoughts and especially ideas for new charcoal drawings I could do for next year are and will be always welcome!

The Old Man
2005 Juried Student Art Show
Charcoal Thoughts Series

There was a crooked man
Who walked a crookied mile.
He passed over a crooked stile
And found a crooked six pence
and bought a crooked cat,
Who caught a crooked mouse,
And they all lived together
In a little crooked house.
He now lives with my mom.

The Boxer
2nd Place 2005 Juried Student Art Show
Charcoal Thoughts Series

The boxer never dies. This piece got completely submerged twice during two different floods. Both times the frame was utterly ruined but the drawing itself was just fine.

Original version before adapted for calendars, postcards, t-shirts and mugs:

11)
The Red Lady
Tales From the Sketch Book
http://ryuyujin.deviantart.com/art/TFTSB-Red-Lady-47609970

There are many times I completely and utterly fall in love with a sketch and prefer the sketch over the final piece hands over foot. Sometimes its even my own sketch, but most of the time it's other artist's. You get a glimpse into how the artist thinks through their sketches. This is one of my favorites of my charcoal sketches.

12)
Stretch
Charcoal Thoughts Series
http://fav.me/d327kl7

One of my favorite 'breaking of the fourth wall' drawings even if its incredibly subtle. Same model as in Red Lady. I loved her chin. You'll see it drawn... a lot... in the next installment.

Original versions before adapted for calendars, postcards, t-shirts and mugs:

Stretch I
Stretch II

See? I said this installment would be a bit happier. Until tomorrow night!
