More work from the latest hush hush project. Took inspiration from several different neo-gothic and gothic renaissance castles including the Swallows Nest in Gaspra in the Ukraine, Corvin Castle in Hunedoara in Romania, and Prague Castle in the Czech Republic. The idea was to create a grand hall that reflected an old, simple stone castle built into a mountain side that is starting to add on wings and additions that display a little more modern, fancy designs. The grand hall would still be considered small and simple by most opinions but surprisingly well lit and airy for an old school fortress original built for defense, not comfort. I've been doing a lot of research into this if you can't tell. Now how successful I was is a totally different story.
I literally went cross eyed and had two pages full of math equations trying to get the perspective right on this and yet not be 'perfect' as very few stone columns and archways really are 'perfect' and start to tilt, bow, sink and warp with age.
The line art is not as complicated and detailed as previous landscapes and backgrounds for this project, but it still also has inspiration from the anime/manga Berserk.
Any and all questions, comments, suggestions, critiques and what nots are always welcome!
We'll be announcing this hush hush project at Sensei Con on Oct 1st and 2nd!
